Description
Created with an eye for transitional style, the Tamarack Jacket is a cosy and chic quilted coat tailor-made for layering in the spring and autumn. Choose from two quilting designs provided or unleash your creativity to craft a Tamarack that's entirely unique to you. The inner layer of cotton or wool batting ensures warmth, while the spacious welt pockets offer both security for your belongings and a snug haven for your hands.
This pattern introduces various techniques, including straight seams, basic quilting, sewing darts, welt pocket insertion, and the application of bias binding.
Recommended Fabric
Opt for light to mid-weight cottons, linens, chambrays, or blends for both the main and lining fabrics. It's crucial to avoid overly heavy materials, as the fabric will be doubled and quilted to batting, and excessive weight could result in stiffness.
When it comes to batting, choose a high-quality option in cotton, wool, bamboo, or a blend. The thickness of the batting should be chosen based on your desired level of warmth for the coat.
